6:00PM 10:00PM Squatch Comedy Club   Francis Family Restaurant Fundraiser for Squatches’ Travel Baseball Team Parody song singers Dan Orr Project and standup comedian Jeff Robinson will have Cambridge in stitches at a Comedy Club event slated for March 9, at Francis Family Restaurant in downtown Cambridge. Robinson, a former reporter for the Daily Jeffersonian, will open the show at 8 p.m. Robinson has performed at clubs throughout the Midwest, including the Funny Bone and the Improv. He's opened for Bobcat Goldthwait and Brian Regan, and was the winner of the first-ever Wags and Elliott Comedy Competition on QFM96. The Dan Orr Project (DOP) headed by Dan Orr on guitar and lead vocals, has been writing and preforming parody songs for more than 20 years. Using the melodies of classic rock tunes to lampoon current events, social issues, famous and not-so-famous people, and local happenings, DOP has attracted fans from near and far and has had songs air on notable shows like the Dr. Demento Show. Orr is joined by Mike Brown on drums and back-up vocals and Bob Watts on bass and back-up vocals. Together the band has released five albums and more than 100 songs including Cheney’s Got a Gun (parody of Aerosmith’s Janie’s Got a Gun) from the album Damaged Goods, West Virginia Dreamin’ (a parody of California Dreamin’ by the Mama’s and the Papa’s) from the Wish You Were Beer album, and Rogaine, (a parody of Cocaine by Eric Clapton) from The Dork Side of the Moon album. All proceeds go to support the Squatches 13-year-old travel baseball team to help pay entry fees into tournaments and buy equipment. The Comedy Club will feature a dinner option beginning at 6 p.m. with choice of chicken, Hawaiian ham or roast beef, potato, hot vegetable dinner role and a beverage. A cash bar will be available. Francis will also feature a limited appetizer menu. Tickets for dinner and the show cost $33 each. The comedy show will begin at 8 p.m. with Robinson opening. DOP will follow and close the evening. Tickets for the comedy show cost $20 each. Tickets are available from parents of Squatches’ baseball players including John Charlton who can be reached at 260-2532, and at Francis Family Restaurant.
